# About Severn Planner

Severn Planner (often just "Planner") is a free school planner for students. It brings in assignments and grades from Canvas, Blackbaud, Schoology, and Google Classroom, and assignments from Brightspace, Moodle, Blackboard, ManageBac, Toddle, and Veracross through a calendar link, estimates how long each assignment will take, and schedules study sessions into the time a student actually has. The goal is to answer one question every day: what should I work on now?

## Who makes it

Planner is an independent student project, built and run by a student developer. No school or company runs it. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Severn School, Blackbaud, Instructure (Canvas), Schoology, Google, or any other school or company whose site it works alongside. Their names describe what it works with.

## What it includes

- **The Planner web app** at [app.severnplanner.com](https://app.severnplanner.com/): assignments, classes, calendar, grades, Plan My Week, Exam mode, Streak & Stats, personal goals, a study timer, and reminders.
- **Severn Planner Overlay**, a free [Chrome extension](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/severn-planner-overlay/adkecoemjjkppanfmbgfhadnkphgndhe) that syncs assignments and grades from your school's platform. You never give Planner your school password.
- **[Planner for Mac](https://www.severnplanner.com/mac)**, a free Mac app that adds a menu-bar study timer, widgets, notifications with buttons, and quick add from any app.

## What it costs

Planner is free for students. The planner does not show ads and does not sell or share student data.

## How student data is handled

Once you set a passphrase, your planner is encrypted on your own device with AES-256 before it is saved, so the server only holds scrambled text. Planner asks you to set one after your first school sync. You can export or delete everything at any time from Settings.
