# Planning your week

Planner works out when to do your work. It looks at what's due, how long each thing should take and the time you actually have, then books study sessions into your free time.

## Plan My Week

Plan My Week books sessions into the week ahead around your classes, commitments and personal goals. It finds time for your goals first, then fits school work around them, with hard work earlier in each stretch of study and light work last. Adjust opens the settings it plans with, like when you're free to study and how long sessions run. Replan whenever your week changes.

## Today's Plan

Today's Plan on your dashboard lists today's sessions in order. Ten minutes before a session, its card shows Start, which runs the study timer for it and ticks it off when time's up. You can also tick a session off yourself, and its planned length counts as study time. If a session slips by, Catch up moves it into your next free time before it's due.

When you tick off the last session for something you haven't marked done, Planner asks whether it's finished. Say it's done, or add 30 minutes or an hour and it books the time.

## Done for the day

Once you tick off the last session on Today's Plan, or your study hours for the day are over, the card says you're all set and shows your first class tomorrow, taken from your school calendar. If your class times aren't synced, it shows your next planned study session instead.

Sessions you didn't get to can all move to tomorrow with one button, and Undo puts them back. Work due by tomorrow stays where it is and is named on the card. Need to finish something tonight? Keep working brings today's plan back for the rest of the day.

## Running late

Choose Push the rest back from the ⋯ on Today's Plan, or type "> late" in ⌘K, to push the rest of today back 15 minutes, 30 minutes or an hour. Anything that no longer fits moves to your next free time, and Undo puts it all back.

The same ⋯ menu also has Replan the week and Clear plan.

## Sick day

Sick, worn out or away for a game? Choose Sick day from the ⋯ on Today's Plan, or type "> sick" in ⌘K. Planner shows what will happen before anything changes:

- Work due by tomorrow stays on today.
- Everything else left today, like steps toward a project, test review and work due later, moves to tomorrow or later in the week, before each one is due.
- Today's goal blocks come off.

For work that has to stay, Planner can draft an email to your teacher asking for more time, listing each assignment and when it's due. It opens in your own mail app, so nothing is sent until you send it. If you saved your teacher's email in Grades, it's filled in. Undo puts your plan back.

## Ask in class

Stuck on something only your teacher can answer, like question 4? Open the assignment and choose Waiting on something, or type "> wait" and part of its name in ⌘K. Ask in class finds the next time that class meets in your calendar and puts a reminder on your Schedule at the minute class starts. Planner won't plan study time for the assignment until class is over, and any sessions already planned before then move to after it. Once class ends, it's planned as usual.

Waiting on a lab partner's data or a rubric instead? Choose Until a day and pick the day you can go on. Undo puts everything back.

## Move and edit sessions

On a computer, drag a session to another day, or in the Schedule view to an exact time. Hold it over Previous week or Next week to turn the page. Click a session, or the pencil on its card, to change its day, start time or length, or to remove it. Click an empty spot in the Schedule to book time there for any assignment.

Sessions you moved, edited or booked yourself stay where you put them when you replan.

## New work joins your plan

Assignments you add, or that come in from your school, are fitted into your free time without moving anything else. To stop this, turn off Auto-schedule new work in Settings, under Automation. If a teacher moves a due date, Planner moves that assignment's upcoming sessions to match and shows an Undo.

## Plan next week on Saturday

Turn this on under Calendar settings, then Study plan, and opening Planner on Saturday plans the week ahead, Sunday included. If your week starts on Monday, this happens on Sunday instead. With notifications allowed, Planner reminds you on Saturday morning if next week isn't planned yet.

## Heavy weeks

If a week up to three weeks away has three or more tests, projects or essays, your dashboard warns you. Start earlier gives that work twice the usual lead time, so some of it lands in the week before.

## Light, medium and hard work

Set a class or an assignment to Light, Medium or Hard. Planner puts hard work first in each stretch of study, while you're fresh. It takes effect the next time you plan or replan.
