# Settings and privacy

Open Settings from the sidebar, or from More on your phone. Search settings, at the top of the list, finds any option.

## Reminders and notifications

In Settings, then Notifications, turn on push notifications for anything overdue or due tomorrow, in one summary a day at 7 PM. Planner can also:

- Remind you before each study session, from 5 to 30 minutes ahead, even when it's closed.
- Send a **Morning summary** at the time you pick: what's due today, how much study time is planned and when the first block starts. Days with nothing on stay quiet.
- Tell you when your weekly review is ready, on Sunday afternoon.
- Let you know when a school sync moves a due date.

Tapping a reminder opens the assignment it's about. When Planner is installed as an app, its icon can show how many things are due today.

On iPhone and iPad, notifications only work once Planner is on your Home Screen. See [Planner on your iPhone or iPad](/guide/setup#planner-on-your-iphone-or-ipad).

## Your dashboard

Choose which cards appear on your dashboard, like Today's Plan or Today's Schedule, with Edit dashboard, then Add Widget, or with the checkboxes in Settings, then Dashboard. Drag cards to rearrange them. Once your school is connected, a button at the top of your dashboard opens its site.

## Planner in Spanish

To use Planner in Spanish, open Settings, then Appearance, and pick Español under Language. Menus, buttons, messages and dates switch to Spanish right away, on every device you sign in to. English is the default.

Anything you typed stays as you wrote it, like assignment and class names and your notes. A few things are still in English: the privacy policy and terms, notifications, and Quick Add, which reads lines like "Lab report Friday" in English.

## Encrypt your planner with a passphrase

Choose Turn on encryption in Settings, then Privacy & data, and set a passphrase. Your planner is then encrypted on your device before it's saved. Nobody else, including whoever runs Planner, can read it. When you turn it on, Planner shows a recovery code once. Write it down or keep it in a password manager, because it's the only way back in if you forget your passphrase.

## Signing out

Signing out removes your planner from that computer or phone, so the next person to use it can't see it. It stays saved to your account and comes back when you sign in. If some changes haven't synced yet, Planner says so before you go. Sign out is in Settings, then Profile, and next to your name in the sidebar.

## Export and storage

Export JSON, in Settings, then Privacy & data, downloads a copy of your planner. Each account holds up to 1 MB, and Planner warns you well before it fills up. To save space, finished work loses its description a week after you finish it, and a finished class's assignments are cleared after 60 days. Grades, dates and attachments stay.

## AI assistants

If you use an AI app that can add a custom connector, like Claude or ChatGPT, you can let it read your Streak & Stats and ask about your study habits. Turn it on in Settings, then Privacy & data, under AI assistants, and add the address shown there in your AI app. It reads only your stats, never assignment names, notes or files, and it can't change anything. Turning it off disconnects every app at once. Each AI app has its own age rules.

## Report a bug or send feedback

Settings, then About, has Report a bug, which sends what you write straight to the person who makes Planner, with your Planner version and browser so a problem is easier to track down. For an idea or anything else, Send feedback opens an email. Settings, then Updates lists everything that has changed in Planner, newest first.
