Troubleshooting
My assignments aren't coming in
- If you use the extension, check it's installed in Chrome on a computer.
- Open your school's site and make sure you're signed in to the right account.
- Try Sync now again.
School sync through the extension happens when you open your school's site. If it's been a few days, your dashboard says so, with a button to open it. The Setup Guide has steps for each platform, and the Canvas access token guide explains each message Planner shows for Canvas.
Canvas or Schoology won't connect
Make sure the extension is up to date, then open your school's Canvas or Schoology and sign in. Planner should open on top of it on its own. If it doesn't, click the Planner extension's button in Chrome's toolbar while you're on the site and choose Connect, then Allow if Chrome asks. If it still fails, open Settings, then School, and check the connection there. Connected Canvas with an access token? The access token guide explains each message Planner shows.
A calendar link brought in the wrong thing
A calendar link brings in titles and due dates, not grades, and new or changed work comes to you to review before it's added. See Connect your school with a calendar link for each platform.
I'm not getting notifications
Check that notifications are on in Settings, then Notifications, and that your browser allows them for Planner. On iPhone and iPad, Planner has to be on your Home Screen first.
Planner says a new version is out
If Planner has been open for a while, it shows a Reload button when a new version is out. Click it to get the update. While it's in the background with nothing in progress, it updates by itself.
The Chrome extension won't add
Some school Google accounts can't add Chrome extensions. Sign in to Chrome with a personal Google account, then add the extension again. Planner and your school connection work the same either way.
I can't sign in with my school email
Some school accounts don't allow sign-in to outside apps. If Continue with Google doesn't work with your school account, the sign-in screen offers to sign up with a personal email instead. Create your account with a personal email or a personal Google account. Connecting your school works the same either way.
I didn't get the email to confirm my address
Check your junk or spam folder. The note on your dashboard can send the link again, or change the email if it was mistyped. Planner works the same while you wait.
I forgot my password
On the sign-in screen, use Forgot password? and Planner emails you a link to reset it. Your passphrase, if you use one, is separate and stays the same.
I forgot my passphrase
Use the recovery code Planner showed you when you set your passphrase. Planner can't read your encrypted planner, so it can't reset the passphrase for you.
Lost the recovery code too? The unlock screen has Lost the recovery code too?, which deletes the locked data, since no one can read it anymore, and starts your account fresh with the same sign-in.
I deleted something by mistake
Look in Settings, then Privacy & data, then Recently deleted. Deleted assignments and classes stay there for 5 days.
Something else is wrong
Use Report a bug in Settings, then About, or write to jeremy@severnplanner.com.
